The European Union has introduced updated Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, replacing the previous Machinery Directive. This new regulation brings clarity, tighter safety requirements, and new rules addressing digital and cybersecurity risks in machinery. It entered into force in July 2023 and will apply in full starting January 20, 2027.

How Exertus helps manufacturers comply

Introducing the Exertus Functional Safety Tool: The next-generation solution for functional safety documentation in machinery – smart and efficient. Manual safety documentation is no longer enough. Exertus provides a web-based, database-driven tool designed to simplify and automate safety compliance from risk assessment to reporting.

Features and benefits

– Full risk analysis and documentation lifecycle in one system
– Automated print-ready PDF reporting
– Built-in traceability and version control
– Import analysis data (e.g. PHA) via Excel templates
– Compliant, professional safety reports generated in seconds

Why it matters? Without structured tooling, safety data becomes fragmented, difficult to trace,
and time-consuming to manage. This puts compliance and even machine usability at risk.
The Exertus Functional Safety Tool provides structure, clarity, and compliance peace of mind.

Customer success story – Fogmaker International AB

Exertus recently supported its sister company, Fogmaker International AB, a global expert in fire suppression systems for mobile machinery by conducting a safety analysis and documentation update project using the Exertus Functional Safety Tool.

Exertus Oy and Fogmaker International AB are both proud members of the Dacke Industri,  a Swedish industrial group that specializes in the development and ownership of technology companies with strong niche expertise.

Fogmaker recently implemented the tool to conduct safety analysis and documentation updates for  a product line targeted at the off-highway segment. Thanks to the structured process and automated reporting, the work was completed significantly faster than traditional manual methods.

The team praised the tool for:
– Reducing time spent on documentation
– Improving traceability and regulatory confidence

Conclusion: The new EU Machinery Regulation brings important and necessary updates but also challenges for manufacturers. Exertus not only understands these changes but also provides practical, proven tools to navigate them.
